The stadium

The AESSEAL New York Stadium opened in 2012 as the home of Rotherham United FC and holds 12,021 spectators. It stands on the site of the former Guest and Chrimes foundry, which made fire hydrants for New York City, which is where the name comes from. The stadium also hosts conferences and events.

The challenge

A stadium has a lot of electrical, plumbing and ventilation services behind its walls and ceilings. Where they pass through fire resisting construction, every access opening has to keep the fire rating of the wall or ceiling it sits in, and still look tidy in finished areas.

The solution

We supplied 20 of our 1 hour fire rated metal door access panels with picture frames.
  • 1 hour fire rated

Each panel is rated for 1 hour, so it can go into fire rated walls and ceilings.

  • Picture frame

The frame covers the cut edge of the opening for a clean border.

  • Powder coated white

Sits with painted walls and ceilings.

Outcome: The stadium has 20 fire rated access points in one specification and one finish, for routine maintenance between events.
