The stadium

Twickenham has been the home of English rugby union since 1909. With capacity for 82,000 spectators it is the largest dedicated rugby union stadium in the world, and it also hosts concerts and other sporting events.

The challenge

A venue this size has ceilings with different needs: ceilings that form part of a fire compartment, general ceilings in busy areas, and service areas where a lighter, lower cost panel will do. One panel type would not suit all of them.

The solution

We supplied three panel types, each matched to the ceiling it was going into.

Outcome: Matching 600 x 600mm metal ceiling panels in two specifications, with the fire rated version only where the ceiling needs it, and plastic panels where a lighter panel is enough.
