Project
Architects Levitt Bernstein are behind Lewisham’s first new ‘Passivhaus’ housing scheme. The award winners at Housing Design Awards 2021 were recognised for designing Millcroft House as it supports growing demands and the UK strategy to build back greener and creating Net-Zero buildings.
This mixed residential and student accommodation building offers 30 affordable independent living homes for residents aged 55+ along with postgraduate living spaces.
Millcroft house is built with Passivehaus-certified products, meaning the building will help achieve desired U-values, airtightness and reduce carbon emissions. Ultimately this new build has been designed to meet rigorous energy-efficient design standards and is proven to meet satisfying levels of thermal comfort, with little energy consumption needed for both heating and cooling the building.
Project Specification
APD worked alongside one of the appointed contractors for this project, with a specific criterion to meet specification put forward by Levitt. It was integral that the bespoke system included the key energy-efficient attributes outlined in the design.
