How the multipack discounts work
A multipack is the same panel, in the same size, supplied several at a time for less per panel than buying them one by one. It exists for the buyer whose problem is quantity rather than product type: a phase of plots, a house type repeated forty times, a floor of a fit out where every riser gets an identical panel.
Three pack sizes run across the main ranges, and each names its own saving:
- Pack of 5 carries a 5% multipack discount.
- Pack of 10 carries a 10% multipack discount.
- Pack of 15 carries a 15% multipack discount.
The FlipFix multipacks are supplied as packs of ten at a 10% multipack discount. Larger requirements are made up from several packs. Each pack is tied to one panel size and one specification, so pick the size on the product page exactly as you would for a single unit, and order a separate pack for every size the job needs.
What is packaged this way
Four parts of the catalogue are sold in packs. Everything else on the site is bought as single units.
Budget access panel multipacks
The beaded frame budget panel, steel door, in packs of 5, 10 and 15. The cost led choice where a lot of openings want a metal face plastered in flush and nothing needs a fire rating.
1 hour fire rated multipacks
Packs of 5, 10 and 15. This is the pack repeat housing and apartment work tends to need, because compartment walls and ceilings repeat plot for plot. Single units are on fire rated metal door access panels.
FlipFix ten packs
Six packs, all of ten: metal door picture frame, metal door beaded frame 1 hour, metal door picture frame 1 hour, metal door picture frame 2 hour, metal door beaded frame 2 hour, and plasterboard door beaded frame. The clamp fitting is what earns its keep at ten, because the time it saves multiplies.
Working out how many the job needs
The count comes off the drawings, not off a rule of thumb. Walk the services layout and mark every point that has to be reachable once the finishes are on: stopcocks and isolation valves, pipe junctions and pumped connections, cistern and shower valve access, riser and duct entries, and anything behind the surface with a manufacturer’s inspection requirement attached to it.
Then split that list twice. First by size, because a pack is one size and most jobs turn out to need two or three. Second by fire rating, because whatever sits in compartment construction has to be rated and whatever sits in ordinary boxing does not.
What usually falls out is a pack of the size that repeats most, plus singles for the outliers. Buying fifteen of one size to reach 15% and then paying full price for eight singles anyway is the common error, and ten minutes with a marker on the plan will avoid it. Check the ladder of stock sizes at access panels by size before you commit to a pack.
When a pack is the wrong buy
Packs reward repetition. Where the job does not repeat, they cost more than they save.
A single awkward opening, a refurbishment where every hole is a different size, and a specification that mixes plastic in the boxings with rated metal in the risers all point to buying singly. So does any job where the sizes are not yet settled, because the pack is fixed to one size once it is ordered.
Bespoke and made to measure panels sit outside these ranges altogether, and the multipack discounts do not apply to them. If your openings were formed before anybody chose a panel, price the made to measure route at bespoke access panels or start a quote request instead.
And where the repeat is real but the range you want is not packaged, the single unit categories carry the same panels: metal door access panels and beaded access panels.
