The Manthorpe GL250-03 is an insulated drop down loft access door for fitting into an existing ceiling, a practical choice for refurbishment work where a new or replacement loft hatch is needed.
A twist action, three-point closing mechanism holds the door shut, and the hinge system lets the door hinge down or be removed from the frame completely for unobstructed access into the roof space. Draught seals help keep moist warm air out of the loft, and 50mm of insulation on the back of the door reduces heat loss.
The lightly textured white finish suits most interiors and can be painted to match the room. The catch can be opened by hand or with a pole, and the door works with the GLL256 and GLL257 loft ladders, whose ladder pole operates the catch.

Draught sealing and air leakage
Draught seals sit between the frame and the ceiling and between the door and the frame. They stop moist warm air entering the roof space and comply with the air leakage requirements of Part L of the building regulations.
The GL250-03 has been independently air leakage tested by the BRE to the requirements for a “Well Sealed Ceiling” in BS 5250.
Insulation
50mm expanded polystyrene insulation to the back of the door. The insulation is CFC/HCFC-free, with an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero and a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 5.
Operation
- Twist action, three-point closing mechanism.
- Door can be hinged down or removed from the frame completely.
- Door catch operated by hand or with a pole, using the pole attachment located in the insulation on the back of the door (pole not supplied).
- Compatible with GLL256 and GLL257 loft ladders.
Care
Clean with a solvent-free damp cloth. The door can be painted to match existing decor.
