Product Reference: GL250-035-EPS
The GL250-035-EPS is a drop down, insulated loft access door for energy efficient access to the roof space. Its multi-point catch mechanism keeps a draught seal around the whole opening, helping to meet the air leakage requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations and stopping moist warm air entering the roof space, where it causes condensation and heat loss.
Choose the insulation type: 110mm expanded polystyrene or 60mm polyurethane, both listed at 0.35W/m²k. The door is white and can be used with the GLL256 and GLL257 loft ladders.

Features
- Door and frame are fully draught sealed.
- Seals supported by 12 independent perimeter catches. This stops the middle of the door sagging and bowing away from the draught seal over time, which would create an air leakage path.
- Sliding door catch operated from a single point, replacing a conventional twist action lock.
- All hinge, catch and fixing geometry is located outside of the seal, so there are no holes through the door and no air leakage paths.
- Hinge detail hidden when the sliding cover is in the fully closed (locked) position.
- Hinge pivot is positioned to maximise the accessible opening.
- The hinge design makes the door fully removable in seconds, for simpler installation and better access with larger insulation options.
- Hinge blockers prevent unwanted door removal.
- Screws fix up into the timbers, for fast and simple installation and optimum pressure on the frame to ceiling seal.
- Fully insulated door panel. The back of the door is shaped to give more space for insulation, so the 110mm of expanded polystyrene covers a greater area within the structural opening, giving a U-Value of 0.35W/m²k.
- Suitable for use with loft ladders.
The catch mechanism should be operated by hand to maintain maximum control over the door as it is opened.
Environmental & Air Leakage Assessment
The expanded polystyrene insulation used on the back of the GL250-035-EPS door has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 5. The insulation is also CFC/HCFC-free with an Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero.
The effectiveness of the draught seals on the GL250 have been independently tested by the BRE in accordance with BS EN 13141-1:2004 (test report no. 283-506). The door exceeds the requirements for a “Well Sealed Ceiling” as detailed in BS 5250 with an air leakage rate below 1m³/h at a pressure differential of 2 Pa. This door also meets the Building Regulations Part L ‘reasonable limit’ for the design air permeability of buildings with a rate of less than 10m³/h.m² at 50Pa.
